Caren K. Lock is the Managing Director and Government Relations Officer of TIAA. In her role at TIAA, Caren is the primary interface for the company and its subsidiaries on all legislative, executive, regulatory, and administrative matters for the South and Midwest regions. Her expertise includes board governance and risk, policy development, regulatory compliance, government relations and crisis management. Prior to joining TIAA, Caren was general counsel with a consumer financial company. Before entering the corporate world, Caren spent over a decade litigating complex business matters including copyright and trademark infringement, employment discrimination, shareholder and partnership disputes, aviation, and toxic tort. Caren serves on The Dallas Mavericks Advisory Board, State Bar of Texas Board, Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum Board and President’s Advisory Board of UT Southwestern Medical Center. She is Past President of The Dallas Assembly and Past Board Chair of The Texas Bar College. In 2015, Caren co-founded The Orchid Giving Circle which provides community grants to support social change and services to the North Texas Asian Community. Her community engagement includes past service on multiple nonprofit and bar association boards including Past Board Chair of The Texas Women’s Foundation. Caren is a sought-after speaker and has received multiple awards for her inclusion and community engagement efforts including from The State Bar of Texas Asian Pacific Interest, Southwest Jewish Congress Dallas and The Texas Diversity Council to name a few. Caren lives in Allen, Texas with her husband and mother. She is the proud mother of two adult sons and a rambunctious puppy.

Chintan Thakkar is a seasoned professional with over 18 years of experience in the banking sector, specializing in regulatory compliance and anti-money laundering (AML) practices. In addition to holding a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and an MBA in Finance, Chintan has earned specialized certifications as a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) and a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS). Chintan’s career includes key roles within the Internal Audit divisions of major national banks, where he developed risk-based compliance audit programs, led regulatory issue validations, and managed remediation efforts related to consent orders and regulatory actions. His expertise includes designing and implementing independent issue validation programs, as well as collaborating with stakeholders to define actionable plans and effectively monitor remediation progress. Beyond his client responsibilities, Chintan plays a crucial role in driving strategic initiatives and fostering a culture of integrity within the organization. He leads Protiviti’s ASPIRE Employee Resource Group, where he promotes inclusion, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for Asian professionals. He leads technology audit programs, guiding teams to solve complex client challenges across a wide range of industries. Nick supports clients throughout the full internal audit lifecycle and in implementing and sustaining internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) programs. His core areas of focus include IT audit, project risk advisory services, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance. Nick is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and an active member of both the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and Information Systems Audit and Controls Association (ISACA). Dr. Zain Ali has over 35 years of experience as a business consultant, industry executive, entrepreneur, and professor. As a consultant he has sold and managed several multi-million-dollar transformational projects on a global basis with Accenture, Wipro, Hackett and West Monroe Partners. His executive roles have included Interim CIO of Global 360 and Managing Partner at Sunbonn. He has served over 70 Fortune 500 to startup clients in 12 countries over a 30-year span. Academically, Zain is an associate professor in Information Science and Supply Chain department at Neeley Business College. Prior to TCU, he was a professor at UNT and currently serves as an instructor at SMU Business Leadership Center and delivers leadership workshop based on the book “Cultivate Your Leader” authored by him. Zain has a BS Electrical Engineering and a MS Industrial Engineering from Wichita State. He also has a PhD in Learning Technologies from University of North Texas.

She joined Ascend when she was a student at UTD, and held various leadership roles, including EVP. Currently, Rachel serves as Deputy VP of Treasury for Ascend North Texas and is a Community Impact pillar team member within the PwC Pan Asian Community Inclusion Network (PACIN) and enjoys welcoming new members and volunteers. As a Client Executive currently at Gartner, Jim brings his extensive expertise to the financial services sector, working closely with clients to ensure Gartner's world-class services and insights directly support their business strategies. His career began at Citigroup, where he quickly rose to lead sales for Citi’s major financial centers and their consumer credit card unit, establishing a foundation of client-centric sales leadership. This propelled his career to other executive sales roles at global companies such as Hertz Corporation, G4S, Kastle Systems, Keystone Partners, and Korn Ferry. A career highlight includes his time as Chief Revenue Officer at Gnowbe, a global tech firm, where he successfully spearheaded sales and marketing operations across four continents.
